Cinematic Investigations is a site dedicated to cinema, in all its forms. Sometimes musing on the nature of the medium, sometimes thinking about cinephilia, or festivals, or special events. Cinematic Investigations is eclectic, open to the idea that something interesting can be found even in the most unlikely place.

This site is written and maintained by Harriet Warman, a freelance film programmer and critic. Harriet’s most recent project is Behind the Curtain, an ongoing film programme bringing a diverse selection of films to the Scottish Borders. The first season of Behind the Curtain is funded by Film Hub Scotland and delivered in partnership with Alchemy Film & Arts and Moving Image Makers Collective. Harriet has contributed to Sight & Sound, CineVue, Little White Lies, KINO! and the Glasgow-based Physical Impossibility zine. She has reported on many festivals including Berlin Film Festival, London Film Festival, International Film Festival Rotterdam, Aesthetica Short Film Festival and Sheffield Doc/Fest. Harriet has sat on juries at Leeds International Film Festival and Bratislava International Film Festival, and worked for two years as the Producer of Alchemy Film & Moving Image Festival (2016-2017 editions).
